Nearly always, I would say don't paint a narrow strip of foreground like this because it looks like an afterthought: but this time, it really works - proving yet again that rules are made to be broken. (I should have tried that argument on the Judge...) Love the suggestion of a building/boat-house in the trees, and the warm colours. As one who is a total novice in pastel, and struggling with it, I can only admire this.
