I really like the rich colour though i think it would look better if the distant hills were cropped out, just above the furthest tranche of coloured flowers - puts more focus on the cow.

Thanks for the feedback Tony, funny you should say that, as I also offer this image as a print on my website without the background, just the cow and surrounding flowers / plants :-)

Interesting how opinions differ. I really like the background and the way it generates space and a sense of freedom. The colours are also a treat for the eye. The cropped version looks great btw, but I prefer the entire thing. Bri

Thanks Brian, I kept the hills loose and increased detail and contrast in the foreground with that in mind. Always cool to hear different points of view :-)

Like the colours and style, Michael

Great colours Michael.

Love this, Michael, appealing subject and pretty colours. Agree with Brian about the background, it gives a lovely sense of space and a contrast to the stronger colours in the foreground.

Thanks very much for the comments Maureen, Sandra, Margaret and Jenny :-)

What a super place to be. The lush countryside at its best is so appealing. Not sure I'd like to encounter the cow - funny, curious creatures. A bit scared of them as I was once chased by a herd of cows.

@Carole thanks for the comment, glad you liked the painting, I've never been chased by cows, but a herd walking towards me did start me off on painting cows though, the ones are Dartmoor are usually pretty chilled out too :-)

Thanks very much Maria! :-)
