Nice one Michael. Love the simplicity and technique.

Nice watercolour, the texture of the paper adds to it, possibly due to the relatively small size.

Like Stephen, I love the texture of the paper and the simplicity.

Lovely painting Michael

I do agree about that, Michael, and it's maddening when you forget to do it, certainly can help the balance. This is a lovely painting, whether helped by the paper texture or not, your touch is light and enteirely appropriate. Some paintings have a special quality and to me this one does.

Thanks all - I do appreciate your kind comments

Super little watercolour Michael. I remember one you did some time ago which was similar, it too was extremely effective in it's simplicity, I think it was either a single bare tree or a stump in the snow? It was also beautiful. I can't seem to find it in your gallery.

Love the textures and the colour, lovely simple clean painting.

Thanks Fiona and Carole. Fiona - not sure which one you mean - could it have been in the 2011 gallery - the nearest I could find to this one is at: http://www.painters-online.co.uk/gallery/picture.asp?id=50763

Yes, that's the one Michael, have you deleted your 2011 portfolio? Nice to have a look at it again, minimum input, maximum output!

Nice one Michael..... clean simple statement........ says it all with minimum work......very good.

Fiona - it's still there at http://www.painters-online.co.uk/gallery/album.asp?id=12345 To get to it you probably to type my name in the Users Name search at the bottom of any gallery page. Then click on the cartoon image that appears - bit long winded and not very satisfactory but can't see a better way of getting there quickly.

Thanks Michael found it.......really enjoyed having another look at your paintings!

A lovely piece, Michael. Beautifully atmospheric.

A small study quickly done. Watercolour as it should be. Like your style and portfolio.

As you say a small study quickly done. Watercolour as it should be. I i like your style and portfolio.

A small little study very quickly done - original only approx 6ins by 7ins. I should have taken image after I had added my signature as it does add balance in bottom right and helps to anchor it (in this case the signature is quite large in relation to the painting given it's small size) - but too late now as it's framed.. Sometimes I think many artists overlook the value of a signature strategically placed.
