Mm looks delicious as well a beautifully painted.

So well done, Marjorie!!

Very good (and yummy too!)

Well done Marjorie and I think foil is particularly difficult to emulate in a painting.

Lovely work on that foil Marjorie and the chocolates are mouth watering. Always fancy chocolate when there’s none to be had.

It’s always choc’s for good practice Marjorie.

Temptress……I’ve got to go and hunt through my cupboards now, just in case there is a long forgotten square of chocolate lurking in a dark corner, covered in fluff! Excellent Marjorie.

Lovely chocolates 😍

Great painting Marjorie. I wonder how many were on the foil when you started painting….

These look very tempting - lovely, Marjorie!

These look so yummy Marjorie, beautifully painted

Thanks for all your comments you chocolate lovers!😆

May I ask a question Marjorie? What drew you back to this painting? The original composition is flat and not as good as anything you've posted for a long long time. I'm sorry if I offend you, I'm just puzzled by your choice. Are you experimenting with painting from imagination?

Lovely.

Great selection and superbly drawn as always!

Not offended at all Owen. The original, just of the chocs, didn’t work - it was a fair representation but that was it. I put it aside. It caught my eye recently - should I re-use the canvas, paint over it, or try adding something? I was restricted because of where I’d placed the chocolates. When you try and add to a composition it’s harder than you think because of balance, focus etc. My opinion now is that I’ll probably paint over this - a shame in that I wanted to leave the bare linen showing ( thinking cap will be worn). My opinion on painting something like foil without it being in place in front of you? Doesn’t really work….material, yes, foil? too tricky to get a realistic result. Now that’s an idea…next painting should be a set up with foil!

I'd like the one on the left please!

Thank you Marjorie for your patience. Your explanation makes sense of an unusual painting. We know exactly what foil would look like in this situation... right up until we try to paint it. I fail every time. I've seen beautiful flower paintings where the linen is exposed. They can be made to fit the painted are as well.

It’s yours Ellen! But I like that one too - Sicilian lemon 😵‍💫 Owen - the angst that is painting!

Oil on linen canvas. I returned to this older painting to paint some foil under the chocs. Chocs are long gone so foil and reflections are imagined.
