Hi Malcolm, You are right the journey is worth it!. We, as Artists, are very self critical , that is as it should be, but we should always avoid being too harsh with ourselves, something I am often, This is a lovely piece you have done which offers a chance to wander into the picture, I very much like the foreground effects, colours and feel. if this is your local then you are a fortunate chap. Here on the island of Gozo, sister island to Malta, we have a semi arid climate, for example today the temperature is around 16 c clear sunny sky, but the colours are completely different for most of the year, you have the English country side with it's seasons and wonderful variations which I must say I do miss sometimes. Wishing you happy painting, new year and prospects. Chris

Thanks once again Christopher, this work was based on an area I walked through one day, but I am lucky enough to live in lovely countryside as is all of our Island anyway.

Just spotted this one, Malcolm. A little gem! I never paint in oils - my sinuses won't tolerate the smell. If this is your only attempt, maybe you should do more oils because I love this. (Hope you don't mind me having a peek at your gallery)

Thank you so much for that Jennifer, I had almost forgotten that one, I am pleased you have had a peek at my gallery. I have at it happens recently bought a small trial pack of water soluble oils as like you, but for a different reason I cannot cope with the fumes etc associated with traditional oil work, so I may have another go at some small oil pieces, thank you once again for your comments.

This is to date my one and only attempt at using oil, based on a photo taken on a walk
