Very dramatic, love the way the sky lights up the tower!

Super Louise. The texture in the sky (is that what they call flocculation ?) contrasts so well with the bright, searing tower, and all those dark, spooky arches and the cold murky water pull your attention right into the image. Full of big city atmosphere.

Fantastic work Louise, love the colours

This building certainly dominates the skyline, I've seen it from the train on my journeys to the north west to visit family. Lovely colours and a powerful image.

Moce contrast between the brash modern tower and the dark brickwork of the Victorian bridge. (You will have gathered I much prefer the old to the new style)!

Strong and forceful depiction, just how it should be Louise.

You can't see it from Norfolk, Louise! LOL! Great colours and strength of composition as ever :)

A very powerful, statement-making piece Louise! I really like this - the vigorous brushwork in the foreground that suggests a busy city and the tower rising dramatically in the background. It works beautifully!

Sarah, can't see it from our house either and we're about 6 miles from the city centre. I know that you can see for miles from the top of it but ten counties sounds rather a lot. High up with a mega strong binoculars perhaps?.. LOL

Thank you as well Seok!

Fab. I have to say it looks like a surrealscape somehow, but I like that.

I love the colours and the way the tower surges out of the landscape.

I can well believe that you can see the tower from a great distance, it always amazes me that I can see the dome of Jodrell Bank telescope quite clearly from Oldham when it is placed in a certain direction.

I love the very dark lower part of your painting Louise! I has got a lot of drama in it with tunnels and water. At the same time you have created a light upper part with the illuminated tower while keeping the night time apparent. ( I hope I got that right and you understand what I mean. LOL )

Many thanks Gudrun, Avril, Stephen and Satu. You can see Jodrell Bank sometimes from Oldham Stephen? Now that is amazing!

Great painting Louise - good composition and well balanced colours. Quite a lot of technical skills have gone into this one and a little bit of a departure from your loose paintings - very well done. I see that building quite often when I work in Manchester and you have captured it perfectly - I like the tree on front of it also as this acts as a great contrast between natural shapes and geometric shapes.

I must be losing it as I could swear I hadn't seen this one?? I love it - there is something very iconic and powerful about that tall glistening building rising into an evening sky. The dark barely hinted at buildings at the base are perfect as well. Super.

Very dramatic, great sky, and I like the contrast between the shiny new and the old canal and trees.

Beetham Tower (also known as the Hilton Tower) is a 47 storey skyscraper at the top of Deansgate in Manchester, apparently visible from ten English counties on a clear day! watercolour 28 cm x 24 cm.
