Everything you set out to do ,you certainly achieved. A lovely sense of light and colour.

I love it Ken! You succeeded in what you wanted to do and that is very good. The colours are just gorgeous and the yellow underpainting works beautifully

Excellent ...great water colour

Really super painting - strong yet gentle. Just lovely.

This is one of several statues on the facade of St Andrews House, a 1930s government building in Edinburgh. This particular figure represents Government's interest in fisheries. What attracted me was the light, coming from the top left and falling on the head and the deck of the trawler in the figure's hands. I began with something I've never done before, an underpainting in yellow and orange, which felt very liberating. Encouraged by this, I simplified the background, took radical liberties with the colour scheme and let wet paint dribble down the paper, trying to create a semi-abstract effect.
