A play on Brexit
I was walking with a friend in central London, one evening, when I saw two homeless guys camped on some stairs under a doorway, and they had placed an orange construction barrier between themselves and the outside world. I started painting this scene because I liked the building, the lights and the composition, and especially because I thought it was a bizarre thing for them to have done. I'm not sure if life under the gilded doorway is better than the mess on the road outside, but while I was working on it, I realised this could be also be a metaphor of Brexit.
