I love the pollarded trees Fiona. Don't think the water is going uphill it is going round the bend :) very nice scene.

It is lovely Fiona. The shading of the water is so good. The water doesn't look like it's going up hill to me either.

Lovely painting..:)

This is lovely Fiona. The trees are very well painted and the water is just fine. Good work.

Great reflections

Lol Carole...at least the river and myself are going in the same direction! Thank you. Thank you very much Mick, you will notice I didn't add any birds....just incase there are any bats about. X Thank you very much Kirstie. Many thanks Syd, glad you like it.

We must have cross commented there Pete.....thank you.

A classic Fiona Phipps piece! Lovely water (not uphill), and the tones you have achieved are a delight. Very pleasing indeed.

It doesn't look like its going uphill to me. A lovely watery scene - you can almost feel the sodden landscape

Wow, Fiona, this is stunning. I don't see the water going uphill and I love the strong limited colour scheme.

This is a most beautiful painting Fiona, gorgeous trees, lovely water and an overall feeling of peace and calm.

This one's special. Just love the style of it. Skillfully done.

Wonderful painting with your lovely palette, Fiona. The trees are very superb and the water is very well rendered, with lovely reflections. I think this is one of your best, Fiona.

I agree with Cesare, I think this is one of your best paintings. The willows are very well done, good use of tone too.

Nice painting Fiona water looks fine to me. Lovely trees ,reminds me of the river stour on the Essex Suffolk border in dedham constable country.

A lovely one Fiona, nice reflections in the water

who cares if it is possibly going uphill very well painted Fiona

This is super, Fiona, love the trees and all the blues - and especially that touch of violet on the water.

just superb, love this artwork

Many thanks everyone for your encouraging comments, very much appreciated. I've just noticed, it's on a bit of a slant as well!

A good one Fiona, I particularly like the right hand side, the colouring really good. Think there is to much of one colour. It would have boosted the whole painting if those hills had been touched in with a hint of pale green. You have put some thought into this, and it shows. Well done.

Thank you John, do you think it having too much of a blue-ish colour it makes it look a cold painting, I hadn't thought of that to be honest. I like the righthand bank but I think the lefthand bank could do with a bit more variation in the wash, that's me painting in my usual lazy way...lol. Thank very much for your imput John appreciate it. PS I've tried to crop most of the foreground water off the picture altogether but it still looks too blue. I think your idea ref the touch of green in the hills would have been a better option.

A beautiful composition Fiona and no, your trees are definitely not going uphill.

Oh sorry I am all fingers, I meant the RIGHT hand bank is best. Sorry, good variation in there. Yes blue is a cool colour. Painting is a bit like beginning to drive. You have to think of some many things at once. But once grasped it's like riding a bike you never forget how to do it.

The water is fine Fiona, an excellent landscape and some gorgeous trees.

Lovely picture Fiona!

Many thanks Margaret, Alan, John, Gudrun, Keith for taking the time to comment, much appreciated.

Wow! This is something else, Fiona! It's beautiful! No, the river is not going uphill. Excellent palette and beautifully depicted trees and reflections. Love it!

Lionel, where have you been? Are you still painting, I hope you haven't put them back in the garage!lol Thank you very much for your kind words, as always they are very much appreciated.

Love this Fiona... Your pen and ink work is superb! I seem to have missed this....I have been searching for your latest work on the gallery, but haven't found you yet even though I have been back about 10 pages!! Anyway, I have enjoyed perusing your lovely gallery of paintings.

Many thanks Chandra, you are very kind. I haven't posted anything for a few weeks now, I think the last was a pen and watercolour of Medlars.

16" x 12" Ink and watercolour, using the W&N watercolours. I liked this until I put the water in, I think it's going uphill.
