Lovely painting Deborah, like the reflection on the pot and nice leaves.

Nice !! I wish I could do as well as that in a lunchtime.Jaykers I'd still be there getting set up.Brilliant.

For a lunchtime practice it's very good! You have managed to get a shine on the pot and on the leaves too. It looks very much like my orchid except that mine is flowering like mad but it has got only three leaves.

Orchids are my favourite flowers (plants?) with or without flowers and I have plenty of both. This is a very beautiful painting and you painted the shape of the leaves very well. You ask for comments or advice: maybe you could add something under the pot where it is standing on. Now it is flying in the air. If you are afraid of spoiling your work, paint the table or whatever on a separate piece of paper, cut out the bottom of the pot and put it on your watercolour, trying out where to add it :) Mia

Lovely touch colours again Deborah

I painted my (presently non-flowering) orchid during my lunch break as the weather wasn't nice enough to go out. I wanted to get in some watercolour practice and decided on one of my plants in the office. I am fairly happy with the result in so far as I captured how the plant looks. The light is not the best at my desk and I had limited shadow to play with. I would like to be able to paint more light and airy, so I still have a long way to go, but I will keep practising. I find it difficult to get that nice balance between too much paint/not enough and too much water/not enough. Any comments/advice gratefully received.

I attended a course back in 2010 on Renaissance Rome and part of the course was to visit the Raphael Cartoons at the V&A. Walking through the Sculpture Court at the V&A I noticed many sketchers drawing from the sculptures and they looked so at peace. I remembered enjoying art at school, many years…
