Have you used tissue paper on the board before painting to get the texture? I've tried this with watercolour but with limited success, found I got better results with gouache. Looking at this it certainly works with acrylic ( if thats what is is, tissue I mean ) well done.

Striking colours and great painting. Is it a big painting ?

So do I love blue and I know what you mean - I go back to blue so often in a painting that I have to restrain myself. I love the latest paintings you have posted. They have a vibrancy and life which is so attractive and it is clever the way you have used the cool blues in the distance and then really zinged things up with the ochre and yellow in the foreground - this gives the perspective the colours it needs. Joyful pieces of work.

Yes Val, I use tissue on MDF stuck on with several layers of gesso. I then use quite a dark ground colour (acrylic) and paint dark to light. I love texture and that is why watercolour often frustrates me.I sometimes use collage as well. Watercolour does work quite well on tissue and gesso on paper, I think Michael Morgan uses this technique. Are you familiar with his work? He has just published a book for his 80th birthday and I suspect I may get it for Christmas....keep your fingers crossed for me. Harvest blue is small, Beatrice, around 30cm square. Thanks for your kind comments.

Just checked out Michael Morgans work and , yes , I like his landscapes very much but not keen on his still lifes. They are similar to the oil still lifes by Elizabeth Blackadder, I don't like them either, but I do like her watercolour flowers. Thanks for pointing me in his direction.

Acrylic on board. I love blues and sometimes have to make a conscious effort not to paint in blue!
