Makes a change from the stiff, formal portraits of yesteryear - Alderman Rumbletummy, the worshipful the Mayor, 1893............. Always painted against gravy-brown wood panelling, and with a moustache ideal for sieving soup. Skilfully done.

Yeah that's awesome! You certainly "captured" the lost edges. I love the varied color in the red suit as well. I'm sure it's just me, but I find the woman's hair in back somewhat confusing. Super great! Wish I could paint like you.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Robert - hilarious! Yes, a very different image is being projected by this public lady. Wonder what the private Alderman Rumbletummy was like away from portrait sittings!? Terry - your sharp eyes went straight to the area where I experimented with thinning oil paint right down in an attempt to capture hair filaments against the light - some more refining of the technique required.
