How lovely, vibrant, cheerful and very well done. Best wishes, Bill.

Thank you Bill, it's lovely to get such positive feedback!

I particularly like this one. Like the way you just let everything float into one another. Your paintings have an appealing quality. Well done.

All your paintings are great. Wonderful colours. Have you seen Shirley Trevena's work? I love her work and this one reminds me of her style.

Thank you Margaret, yes I do like Shirley Trevena's work very much and it's not surprising that it shows in my own work I suppose. I like watercolourists that push the medium in new directions, so in addition to Trevena, I like Kurt Jackson (although he uses a wide range of mixed media) Michael Morgan, Ray Evans, Laura Reiter as well as Jackie Simmonds (and others!). The choice of still life has a lot to do with the look of my work as well. I love Cubism/Picasso and Braque in terms of structure and Matisse for colour, multiple viewpoints, overlapping forms (selecting aspects from forms rather than 'copying') mark-making and strong colour are my 'things' right now. That's not to criticize those that use watercolours in traditional ways of course, but that's not the sort of work I want to do. Watercolour is still relatively new to me, as when I was at art school watercolour was not encouraged, so I didn't really try it then. More recently, I needed a medium that could be worked on in small time slots (I teach full time) and watercolour does it for me! I would recommend looking at the 'work of others' if anyone is ever 'stuck' for ideas or approaches, it's a mantra often repeated to students of mine! (A level not adult classes)

This is what I would call a delicious painting...just lovely

Thanks for your kind comments Patsy!

beautiful beautiful colours, I love all the pictures you have on this site. from one of your answers above, I understand that you teach. would it be possible to attend one of your classes? lots of love

Andrea, thank you for your kind and generous comments. After a stressful day at work it was nice to come home and read them I can tell you! I do teach full time, at a college in Merseyside. If you are based in the north west we might be able to arrange something. I have taught adult classes as well as the 16-19 age range. I have more pictures on show on my website www.carolinekaye.com where you can also contact me. Thanks again.

I love the abstract feel of this painting.
