Inspired Abstraction

Love your brightly coloured abstracts. Fresh and Free and I have some idea of how difficult that is to achieve. How detailed to make them, How much texture etc it is all down to your imagination which is obviously hard at work. Look forward to seeing more of your work when it gets posted.

Angela, thank you for your encouraging comments! This painting was derived from a more 'realistic' watercolour painting that I'd done called 'Inspired Flowers'. The 'Inspired Flowers' title comes from the name of my favourite florist where I buy most of the flowers that I work from. If I remember rightly, I was trying to extract simple elements from the original picture (which itself is a bit abstracted) as a starting point for an abstract painting. You are right, abstract work is more difficult than it seems and I've always felt that I had to work on it, so thanks for your encouragement! Caroline.
