I think its another winner!!!

Thank you Linda that's very encouraging after battling with it for so long.

You can't tell there was a struggle here Barry, you are so good at boats! I had some old Saunders paper to use up and I had the same problem, I ended up just using it for pen work in the end.

Thanks Fiona I might try your solution as I do a fair bit of pen work myself.

It turned out well anyway Barry! A great painting.

Thank you Margaret glad you like it.

Has a lovely tranquil feel to this scene Barry. I have not used Fabriano for a long time, I seem to remember the rough is very rough and the not is smoother than usual, good for pen and wash.

Thank you Stephen, you are correct it is very rough but that isn't a worry for me as it gives good texture and suits my style. It is more to do with the way the paper absorbs the paint.

its llovely Barry not just passable I like it a lot

Thank you Dennis, I must admit it's growing on me probably just disappointed that it didn't quite turn out as I expected.

Nice work Barry.I like the merging of shapes in the background. Also the way that you deal with masts and rigging is very effective.

Thank you Peter, I try not to be too precise and hold the brush near the end which I find produces believable marks.

Agree with the other comments , just love your boats they are excellent

Thank you Elizabeth, David and Gudrun, I just love painting boats struggle or not.

Many thanks Maureen.

A bit of a battle as I was struggling with the Fabriano 140lb rough paper, which I bought a while ago and want to use up. I have used the same weight Fabriano not paper without any problems so I may just have a bad batch. It seems a bit like blotting paper and may not have enough size in it. However, I have persevered and produced a passable painting.
