The name Shannon is a combination of the Irish name Sionainn meaning ‘possessor of wisdom’, and the phrase sean-amhan meaning ‘old’. Together they form the meaning ‘wise river’. Old and ancient just like the practise of tattooing which dates back to Neolithic times.
