On August 8th 1914 as WW1 was declared, Shackleton's ship Endurance left Plymouth for an Expedition to the Antarctic which was to become legendary for the feat of survival, elevating Shackleton to one of the world's foremost Leaders of Men. There is no recorded image of this even so I painted one from the written records of the time. Fine Art Trade Guild prints will be sold of this painting to raise funds for The Shackleton Foundation and a Plymouth sailing charity for he disabled.
