I admire the dedication shown here in rendering every single daisy with the same faithfullness to nature. Its a marvelous art work!

I bet it did - what painstaking and lovely work.

Thank you Michael :- ) It became clear to me, fairly early on, that the daisies had completely different 'characters'. I think (without me realising it at the time) this is probably what made my original reference photo so appealing. I quickly realised that it would be a more interesting painting if I put the time in to capture the differences! I totally underestimated the amount of time it would take me to complete the work - but I really enjoyed it too! I was brave (silly) enough to share the progress shots of the work in progress on my facebook page. So far no one has said they preferred it at a previous stage! Full credit to Mother Nature for growing this arrangement in the first place! Thank you for commenting Michael :- )

Thank you Heather. It certainly took a lot of layers to keep the daisies looking simple! It seemed to be a case of 'More is Less' rather than 'Less is More'! But it was so enjoyable to paint with a brush again. Thanks so much for your compliment :- )

Phew that took a while! Over 130 daisies painted in oils on linen canvas - 16 by 20 inches. Really enjoyed painting in oils again, and it made a lovely change to have a paintbrush in my hand, rather than a painting knife :- ) In the course of painting this, I fancied I could see a heart -shaped arrangement of flowers in the middle of the canvas - hence the romantic title!
