I thinkyou've put a lot of work into this Amanda. Strong image, I love how the chimneys really stand out against the sky

I love the colour of that brick, and the tiles - and I have a feeling I know that house;

The chimneys standing out against the sky is almost certainly down to the complemetary colours, but the impasto paint might be implicated a little. As to your knowing the building, Robert, apart from my having sketched it once before, it is in Hampshire - Kingsclere, near Basingstoke - and it's listed Grade II with a complimentary mention from Pevsner. Or maybe it just looks like some other house.

This painting was painted inside its subject - my studio is on the ground floor of this lovely 1720 building. Acrylic on canvas, brushes and knives. 40 x 50 cm. http://amanda-bates-artist.blogspot.com/2014/09/swan-house.html
