This is beautiful, I like the eye level and the sky reflections are great.

Great light in the sky and reflections, a super oil.

How gorgeous is this! Oil at its best. Very atmospheric.

I love the blue in this - it takes up most of the picture but does not swamp it.

We were running out of time looking for a good viewpoint as the day wore on (with the forecast for heavy rain later!) so we opted for this location. I had to make the choice between the painting being sky-dominated or water-dominated, I chose water. A friend's easel and board ended up in the water when the tide rose much quicker than expected and yes it poured with rain at 4.15 in the afternoon, we just got back to the car in time!

18 1/2" x 18 1/2" acrylic and oil on board. I have been going out into the Sussex and Surrey countryside with a group of like-minded artist friends to paint "en plein air". I paint on location in acrylic and then finish in oil in the studio. I very much enjoy this way of working as I have discovered that there is no substitute for having the actual scene in front of you as you draw and paint compared to working solely from a photograph. Finishing the painting in the studio gives me the chance to enhance the lighting and atmospheric effects which takes the painting away from being purely a record of the scene as I saw it and allows me to develop a more personal vision and style. www.paintingsbymarkharrison.com
