I think each to their own ....give me the faffing.   But then over the years I have painted I have odd situations and I doubt if it would  have been possible to have used digital.   As I said previously I have tried it but not for me. Your two examples are they from photographs or in situ or from your own imagination?
You could have achieved as good or better results if you had persisted with physical paint.  You may not have wished to make that effort - I've no problem with that, so far as it goes, but this is just not for me, and I think it blands out images to an extent which offers nothing, frankly.
That was unkind - of course you must do whatever you want to do, I've no business trying to dictate to you, and I apologize for my impatience with this approach.  It was not a personal rebuke, which I've no reason to make: that I don't like it is probably my problem, not yours.
I didn't know that Dennis Roberts'  paintings were digital? He never says that when he posts? Got  to admit my disappointment but then it does go to show how good digital art can be!
Me too, Diane!  But here it is. Impossible to tell the difference in my view. https://www.painters-online.co.uk/blogs/digital-art/
I didn't know either Diane although there is a consistency to his style.
Thanks for the blog reference Norette which I have now read with interest. Yes Denise, definitely a consistency in style that many accomplished artists have. I love Dennis' paintings and will still appreciate the skill involved in making them. Will I look at them differently now that I know they are digital? It's an interesting question and I shall wait to see!
Dennis has been on the site for years and used to state his paintings were digital….I suppose he assumes everyone knows. I don’t think he uses digital tools in the way some do eg tools which use “ stamps” for leaves etc. I’m sure he paints from scratch - ask him. I’ve always liked his work and he put me onto various artists( traditional) who paint in the same way as he does. I think he mentioned lack of space now but he used to use trad materials.
I thought that he went digital for health reasons, maybe he did use oils at one time… or maybe it was space! Robert might know! He does show a few early stages on some of his posts, starting with a blank canvas so to speak (not literally of course!). He turns out some good landscapes in I would say, the style of Edward Seago, and gets pretty close to his palette.  He’s the only digital artist on this site who’s work comes even close to looking like an actual painting… the fact that many of you didn’t know it was digital, confirms that!
I have always enjoyed those big dramatic skies and rural views. I did know he used digital painting and it's lovely and used beautifully .
I have always like his work and often comment on the , I did not or had forgotten that they are digital but that makes no difference as he is a master of what he does . I will continue to comment on his artwork don’t think knowing it digital will make any difference, it what he paints as well nothing offensive or to fantasy with excellent choice in colours .  Just keep posting them Dennis you have quite a fan base and I respect that you are not evangelical about digital and trying to convert us to your way of painting.
I have always liked the particular style he uses.
