It's got a driver now! :) Anth
Cheers Sylvia :) Got the front wheel in tonight, battling against manflu and this was all I could manage...
Awesome work, Anth. Everything about your paintings is absolutely superb. Bri
Wow, thanks Bri! Really appreciate that :)
Got some progress over the last couple of nights, getting there now: Wall of the rear tyre needs darkening down a bit, I'll get that done tomorrow when I start on the front end. Anth
Yep, there's probably a day in it to finish, which hopefully I'll get over the weekend. Got to try and finish this and another one before Chrimbo! :)
Looking fantastic - great technique.
Thanks Marjorie, maggyn :)
Didn't get as much progress over the weekend as I would've liked due to mild manflu, but cracked on a bit nonetheless: Once again, apologies for photography. Hope to get the lights etc done next week. Anth
So, after seeing a post about photorealism elsewhere on the forum, I've decided to ditch this, start again and take a more painterly approach and....god, what happened there! I greyed out for a minute and the next thing I knew I was on the verge of talking artybollocks :) Anyhoo...it's all about the detail now...tonight's progress is a sidelight, two Mustang badges and the type on the air freshener and the number plate! (oh, and one of the number plate bolts!) Grille's to finish off, then passenger headlight and sidelight and we're done. Anth.
I haven't looked at the competition winners mentioned in the other thread yet, so I don't really know the context but - I have absolutely nothing against photorealism in its place, and when it's done with flair, colour, and movement. I am much less keen on paintings that 'look just like a photo' - but that really isn't what you do, at all. What you do is meticulous detail, entirely appropriate to the subject. And your paintings DO offer flair, colour, and movement. I should be very pleased to own a painting of yours, but if you ask half the price you should be asking, I wouldn't be able to afford it. A friend of mine who has a longstanding love affair with Ferrari would be even more keen to lay his hands on one of your paintings: and his judgement MUST be good, because he likes my stuff! I think we've just tripped over the problem of definitions of genres again here - I'm sure no one wished to disparage your work and approach.
I've been watching with fascination and admiration, Anth. Super work. Lew.
