I haven't got around to doing the April challenge yet! Playing too much with my new acrylics. One per month is enough in my opinion, there have been some smashing ones this month and Sylvia, yours looks magnificent, took me a while but I spotted the Robin!
I got there in the end! I had to duck a couple of showers, and I also had to move the daffodils from the river bank over to my right ... and I never saw the robin, so he's missing! Roche Abbey in South Yorkshire:
Shall we try another poem for April challenge mark II? Then we can be back in synch for a May Challenge in May! This beautiful poem is by Leonora Speyer. Looking forward to seeing what you make of it! They dip their wings in the sunset, They dash against the air As if to break themselves upon its stillness: In every movement, too swift to count, Is a revelry of indecision, A furtive delight in trees they do not desire And in grasses that shall not know their weight. They hover and lean toward the meadow with little edged cries; And then, As if frightened at earth's nearness, They seek the high austerity of evening sky And swirl into its depth.
There'll be lovely work from this beautiful composition, no doubt. An awesome vision.

Lovely poem! I firstly thought of House Martins which we get every year nesting in the eaves of the house and then come the swallows to nest in the barn. Lots of ideas. This should be a good one!
Nice to have five minutes to get something done for this months challenge- Chinese watercolour on Xuan paper- Swallows, Lilacs and Clematis
Lovely swallows, Jen and Carol :) Not very Springlike here today - sleet and rain (and the odd hailstone I think)!
Thank you, maggyn, not very spring-like here this morning, snowing, but it will turn to rain thank goodness. Thank you for you comment, Sylvia it is much appreciated. I might frame this one and hang it on the wall.
Sylvia, and Fiona, you both have lovely movement within your challenges, nice work. Jenny, I like the colours and texture your painting has. Its eye catching, I think it would make up into a nice sun-catcher.

I must admit I'd didn't like this challenge too much, I even thought it a bit lame...but I've been proved wrong. There are some delightfully original takes on this subject...well done all of you.
There has been some great paintings for this April challenge, all very different. I decided on a graphite drawing with black and white pen. Linda
