Pat - thanks for pointing me in the right direction re A4 printing . I'm not sure if I got there in quite the route you suggested but I scanned an image in my flatbed scanner / went to my scans / printer settings / advanced / poster / enabled the disabled poster facility / poster 2x2 / changed the A4 to 210m x 296mm / borderless / apply . There were some other "apply" in there on the way . It worked but I was nervous about messing up the printer settings . Should be ok so long as I switch everything back afterwards . This might not work for all printers due to updates and changes in terminology , mine is about ten years old . Anyway thanks .
