Suggested materials

  • Oil paint (student or professional grade). Colours:
    • Titanium White
    • Bright Yellow Lake (or Lemon Yellow or similar)
    • Permanent Orange (optional)
    • Burnt Sienna
    • Napthol Red (or Cadmium Red or similar)
    • Alizarin Crimson
    • Manganese Violet (or Dioxazine Purple)
    • Ultramarine Blue
    • Sap Green
    • Emerald Green (or Turquoise) - optional but useful
  • A range of flat and filbert brushes, from small to medium-large
  • Mineral spirits
  • Gesso primed canvas, canvas board, or wood panel
  • Palette
  • Clean cotton rags
  • Kitchen paper
