Here is Paul Browns' exhibition checklist, taken from the article in the January 2010 issue of Leisure Painter

  • Organise and pack everything the day before
  • Plan where you are going to park
  • Allow three to four hours to set up a solo show
  • Space is never perfect. Allow for pillars, doors and windows
  • Be aware of the types of hanging system
  • Hang the largest painting first
  • Are you allowed to make holes in the walls? Usually it is not allowed
  • Double and triple hanging is useful as space is always limited. Some allow single hang only
  • Two hooks are better than one for hanging, as paintings are less likely to move
  • Allow consistent gaps between paintings
  • Group subjects. Does the still life sit well next to the tropical beach?
  • Are the spotlights on the pictures?
  • Is a ladder available for repositioning spotlights and larger pictures?
  • Does the show look pleasing?
  • Remember labels with artist's name, medium, size and price
  • Finally is everything labelled? Are the visitors' book, brochure and artist information ready?
