A smashing little piece, Christine! Love the detail on the bird and the lovely foliage. Beautifully done!

you do love to experiment Christine. Very effective. I don't know Khadi paper?

A delightful painting Christine. I love the dark of the bird, almost etched looking, against the delicate colours and patterns of the foliage.

what on earth is Khadi paper? :-p (internet search time i think) :-) this is a beautifully painted bird :-) really like it :-)

At first I thought this was a lino-print! Love the paper and the image.

Thank you very much Seok, Sylvia, Val, Rebecca and Debs for your kind comments. Sylvia and Rebecca, Khadi paper is made in South India from recycled cotton rag, it has quite a rough surface and a deckled edge. You're right Sylvia I do like to experiment and Debs my love of lino-prints definitely influences my work!

Lovely piece Christine, great contrasts.

I like it. Looks like you have printed it Christine.

Many thanks Fiona and Carole, I appreciate your comments.

Really lovely painting. The black of the bird against the soft lilac and blue is most eye catching. I think the Khadi paper also enhances the finished look as it seems to have a lovely texture to it.

I am not surprised at your obsession with birds - they are most attractive to draw and you do it so well. I love the soft watercolour background and the foliage as it contrasts so well with the strong drawing of the bird. These bird paintings would all make really lovely book illustrations. Watch out Mark Hearld - you have competition here!

Thank you Thea. I have only just discovered Khadi paper but it is really nice to paint on and, as you say, has an interesting texture to it. I bought a pack of assorted colours of Khadi paper yesterday so no doubt will be experimenting with that soon!

love it, the apparent simplicity of it, dark bird against subtle & delicate background - smashing

Really like this.well painted.

Thank you Julie, I am really looking forward to Mark Hearld's new book, I'm sure it will trigger some more bird paintings for me!

Thank you very much Jenny and David for your lovely comments which I really appreciate.

Christine, I logged in to tell you that I enjoy your gallery very much; delightful! so much of inspiration

I'm a bit obsessed by painting birds. This is watercolour and acrylic inks on Khadi paper.
