A change for you, James, at least from the work you've shown us before. Like it; might go for a few more darks and contrasts, but even so, I like where you're going.... some glazing in this? Eg, in the leaves? It's what acrylic does best, so do more. Agree with you, it's a great rose.

Thanks again for your encouragement Robert. Yes, I thought I would try this style, and I'm still learning. The glazing may have been the result of an accident, rather than being intentional, but some things I wanted to do, seemed to have worked.

A lovely glow it has too. Love that yellow inner light. Those dew drops? on the leaves, nice touch. Well done

Thanks Carole, yes I'm glad the dew drops worked - I must admit I'm very happy that you and Robert like this one!

I love using acrlyic inks and paint for flowers like this - you have done a good Job with this rose. James the card off food boxes may not be archive safe. I normally use achiveable mountboard but with my last purchase my art shop also gave me the shiney (corrugated )cardboard free of charge. So was just trying it out on my Yankee Candles and Flowers. Good luck with your acrylics.

Cheers Valerie, and thanks for your advice & best wishes! x

5"x5" Study - before attempting on large stretched canvas The Tequilla Sunrise Rose has sentimental value to me, and I have this Rose in my front garden (now in full bloom)
