Coastels were originally oil-rig accomodation barges. they contained all the facilties required for a comparitively comfortable existance. They provided living and recreatioal quarters for personnel deployed the the Falkland Islands in the period just after the 1982 conflict. There were three of these barges moored in or adjacent to Stanley Harbour. The Image here is reproduced from my original photograph taken at the time and is executed in acrylic on a stretched canvas.
