Beautifully painted silver birch and bird and they show up so well against the much looser background.

I don't think you need any tips at all - just keep on doing what you're doing. The bird is brilliantly done; I last saw one of these 50 years ago - would love to see one again, but either they're very rare, or just very hard to spot.
