Superb. Fabulous detail in your jumper too.

I’ve gone through those further two decades - self portraits are not so pleasurable now ( joking, you actually come to accepting things). I like your self portrait Thea, I get a sense of who you are.

A very impressive portrait with great use of tones. I like the gaze and the details of her jumper Thea.

It's glorious in it's own right as are all the others!

Wonderful detail and I like these Thea. Happy 50th!

I meant to say I like the pose! Predictive text! 🤔

Super portrait and great detail on your jumper

A beautifully painted and expressive portrait.

I echo Marjorie's observation, Thea! This is superb, especially the detail on the clothing. Looking forward to seeing the next selfie!

Thank you all for your lovely comments xxx

Wonderful Thea, lovely gaze and superb detail in your hair and jumper

I've only ever drawn a self-portrait - I've never yet painted myself, and that seems to be quite unusual for painters; nearly everyone produces a self-portrait at one time or another; perhaps they have better material to work from than I have. Anyway, first of all Happy Birthday, and if I've missed the day, never mind: have another party. And secondly, this is fine work - you do need a touch of courage and determination in this life; but I'm the better part of a quarter of a century older than you, and am still here, or most of me is - bits do fall off: so there's certainly hope for you.

Excellent work!

Wonderfull done, great portrait. chapeau

That’s fabulous Thea. I absolutely love the texture of the jumper and the jewellery and I wish I was 50 again!

I will be adding the paintings gradually… It’s my 50th Birthday in two days time and thought it was a good time to paint some self portraits. I ended up painting a ‘Pentaptych’, 5 x oil on canvas panels, 24 x 35cm, to represent my 5 decades. I am determined to face the next decade with as much strength as I can muster…
