I prefer the first one, Sue because the colour seems stronger - but in both cases I love your water drop!

Thank you, Jane. I'm really please with the drop, especially as I'm new to watercolour. I agree with you though, the second one was is a bit 'washout'. I thought it would be stronger as Aureolin appears to be a 'richer' yellow. Constantly learning :)

I like both. Yes the oethre has more colour, but this one feels like it has more sunshine. The water drops are great - not easy to do well, but you have.

Thought I'd try again with Aureolin and Cobalt blue to make my greens & get a bit closer. Not sure which I prefer, but think Hosta Leaf 1 was a better painting!

Returned to art in 2012 having done virtually none since school. Started with watercolour but added oils & now enjoy both. Always enjoyed arts & crafts but had concentrated mainly on the crafts. The art was always part of the textiles - painting with yarn - felting, knitting, weaving etc.
