Stage 2 by Angus Ballantine
The next stage is to 'Kill the white'. Using a broad flat brush, the bigger the better, apply a thin wash of Burnt Sienna over the whole picture and allow to dry. When this is done you should effectively have a stained canvas with the pencil marks of the grid and your picture visible through it. The reason for doing this is to provide a better base to work upon especially when applying white highlights later as it obviously makes them easier to see.
