What a spectacle it must have been Steve. You’ve painted a fabulous sky to show off the Dakota. Was it a Dakota that flew regularly from Gibraltar to Tangier’s and was affectionately known as Yogi?

Thanks for your kind words once again Fiona, and I didn't know but a quick search and it does seem to have been a Dakota, have a look at "https://api.parliament.uk/historic-hansard/lords/1970/feb/10/gibraltar" Loved your Bamburgh Castle, an area we enjoy a great deal.

Thank you for the link Steve, I did a quick search but couldn’t find anything. I lived in Gib for a while and remember being able to set your clock by the sound of Yogi taking off, or coming in to land! They finally retired the old bird off did they.....lol. Thanks again.

This is so well painted Steve. Great work.

Over 20 Dakotas met at Duxford ready for the 75th commemorative flight for the Normandy landings. I was lucky enough to ne there to see them depart. I chose this one to paint as it brought memories of regularly seeing them arriving at London Airport in the 50s.
