This is lovely Steve, I love steam trains, the colours and details here are so good and remind me just how much I do like steam trains

Very nice, a proper train. Daddy would always take us to see the engine before we boarded the train and it stood waiting, panting like a living dragon

Another good painting, but feel that your previous one has much more feeling and atmosphere. Not the train, but the setting.

Thank you for all your kind comments. Many (many) years ago I got one of these mail carriages as Christmas present for my train set and watched amazed as the mailbags were picked up or flew out of the train into the basket without stopping. I am not a particular train enthusiast but the idea for this painting came after I visited Nene Valley Railway at Peterborough where they regularly show the collecting and dropping procedure using the full size old Travelling Post Office trains.

Great painting. I hope you'll paint more like this to capture the period.
