A very interesting painting Stephen and beautifully executed! You have progressed so much in a year with the male body! What I really like in this painting are the bas-relief and the floor. They are both very time consuming and difficult to achieve but you have succeeded. Well done!

This is such an accomplished painting, Stephen, and beautifully finished. It's conceptually interesting, well composed and just so well painted. Well done indeed, and a very happy new year to you!

What huge progress you've shown over the last year or so.... it was worth taking your time with this.

Wonderful colours used and such perfect figure work. Happy New Year :)

Thank you all so much for your encouraging comments.

50x 76cm or 20x 30 inches, acrylic on boxed canvas. I started this two weeks before Christmas and for once took time as there was detail in the bas-relief that could not be rushed. This shows Alexander the great entering Babylon (Greek), but I have also put in the Roman God - Janus, with one face to the past and one to the future. The youngmen are in the laconium, a dry resting room at the roman baths. www.artyboi.co.uk
