Gold hammered and soldered belt plaque showing a horse attacked by a monster. This fine work speaks of artisanal skill in 3-4 th century BC in Siberia. Originally collected but Peter the Great and now in the Hermitage. The challenge here was to render the gold convincingly.
About the Artist
Stephen Gillespie
I retired after a career as a clinical researcher. Art was and remains a relaxation activity. Mostly, I am self taught with a few individual professional tuition sessions. So, my work is mostly experiment to try to make something pleasing and to record the beautiful things around us.
