Lovely and athmospheric painting

Love the dappled shade and foreground shadows Stephen. Your buildings are crisp and sharp, wish I could draw.

Beautiful view, love the light you've captured.

Result's great and I see no probs with the ink.

Very good Stephen and I like the layout with the building in the foreground.

Many thanks everyone for your very kind remarks.

This is lovely and always great to see any views of The Lake District and snow always brings a magical element to it as well

Many thanks Ros, I agree, most Lake District scenes are great.

Nice painting Stephen. I think this is Troutbeck Inn. If so have stayed there. Only point is were the chimneys white? Would they be coated in snow being vertical. If so I would have been tempted to cheat with a warm colour for some hue contrast and excitement

Thanks Alan for your always thoughtful comments. I painted this from a National Trust greetings card, which says ' Townend is a 1626 yeoman farmers house',now owned by the NT. The walls and chimneys do seem to be white or perhaps pale cream in the photo. As you say, a little variety in colour would add more interest.

Stephen sometimes I find I haves to cheat a bit with photographs

I do like the strong contrast between the white of the snow and house and the dark greens of the trees. Makes a dramatic painting.

Many thanks once again Thea and Alan.

Lovely work, Stephen. Super light and atmosphere.

Many thanks for your kind thoughts Seok.

Another lovely Lakeland building, in the winter. Foolishly drew this in ink, not a good idea with snow. Quite enjoyed it though.
