Farmhouse, Daisy Nook

Lovely treatment of the greens in the trees and bushes. I like the two little figures that draw the eye in. Super sunny painting (and it was cold and a bit miserable where I am today).

Those two tiny figures really give a sense of scale to this delightful painting Stephen, lovely light and shade

Many thanks Thea and Ros for you every encouraging comments.

Hi Stephen, I know you like strong colours but I just wonder if the far trees on the right need cut back a bit and the base of the left hand trees darker and colder. The trees against the house are so good with their more muted colour and tonal design.

Sorry to add but I see Thea takes a different view loving the greens but that is Art. It is all a matter of individual appreciation.

Thanks Alan for your constructive thoughts, we do all read paintings differently, I've just looked at the original and the left hand trees look stronger. It is difficult to photograph watercolours and get the tones accurate.

I like the fact you have painted some foliage areas darker in this painting, which to me is more natural. The composition with the people adding scale works well but am concerned about the amount of grey area in the foreground which is about a third of the picture. Hope you don't mind my criticism Stephen.

After my last few pictures Stephen I understand the difficulty in getting lots of green to look interesting, you have plenty of interest in you always do.

Thanks for your comments Helen and Fiona, it's interesting how varied the comments are, shows that painting is not an exact science (thank goodness!)

Lovely summer scene Stephen

many thanks Petra once again.

A lovely, tranquil scene, Stephen. Beautifully painted.

Hang on Studio Wall

I painted this tonight at the art group, from a photo I took in the summer, bet it was a bit grim today!
