Autumn 'quickie'

Great painting Stephen, I love the small tree to the right and the reflections.I agree that sometimes you do seem to get better results than a considered piece. I have been doing a few quickies without pencil and yes some aren't very good but the ones that are good far exceed my overworked pieces. Maybe it's because the brush work is free and a little more expressive and the colour palette is what you really want.

The water is really good, a few quick strokes of paint with that hake and voila! The painting comes to life. Well done.

This is great Stephen! - and the colours perfect.

This is magic, such soft colour and a great scene.

It's lovely, Stephen. There's definitely a lot of immediacy in this painting that lends great atmosphere to the painting.

I hope it isnt going to be your "last quickie" Stephen! We want more "quickies"....please!

many thanks everyone for all your great comments,

Sorry, couldn't resist one last 'quickie' from imagination, using a hake and rigger. I do find them exhilarating to do and often come out better than if I 'take my time'!
