Very effective use of shapes in this piece, Stephen. The simplicity is deceptive, it's a super piece.

Lovely painting Stephen

Many thanks Seok and Glennis for your encouragement. I've strengthened the shadow since and I think it's helped.

Hi Stephen I couldn't answer your texts im having computer problems . Thankyou Stephen

Stephen thank you for your comment re my Dedham Hall. I think I prefer out door painting because I am too impatient to add the details. On the other hand your own more architectural paintings work because of the details and of the `Garda paintings the shadows I find are always a problem. I think I prefer a tone something between Garda 2 and Garda 3, certainly a strong tone because of the sun light. I like the idea of the green shutters in Garda3 but wonder if they had been on the Golden Mean for design purposes or maybe even blue to show the complimentary colour to the warn Siennas. Would like to see more of this type of subject from you

Thanks for your thoughts and ideas Alan, plenty to think about there. Hope your time at Dedham goes well, I think I must have put on a few pounds there!

I think you have completely captured the look and feel of old stonework - super textures built into the painting. Great shadows as well.

Many thanks Thea for your encouraging comments.

I think this scene is looking from the other side of the archway shown in Garda 2, if that makes any sense.

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
