Gosh, you are good to practice like that - I tend to just go for it and then make mistakes! I think this will pay off as it does make it easier to paint a subject if you have experimented beforehand.

I thought I would practice my watercolour trees, a winter one ans a summer one. I drew the trunks and branches with a smallish squirrel brush and then in with the shadows and foliage while still damp.
