Nice experiment Stephen.

Who would guess! Well done Stephen, just as effective as a “proper” brush!

What is your new budget tool Stephen , it's nicely painted but the composition let's it down a bit.

Many thanks everyone. It's a Costa Coffee, stirrer, with one corner removed so I can get thick and thin lines when I dip it into the ink. I remember reading once that Edward Wesson had moved on late in life from matchsticks to abandoned iced lolly sticks in the street, to do his lovely ink drawings. Perhaps he had reached the eccentric stage by then? Oh no, perhaps I have! The watercolour is applied with a boring old brush I'm afraid! The path is a bit central but when I experimented with cropping a little off the right hand side I preferred the original. Perhaps we sometimes get a bit obsessed with old rule of thirds thing?

Lovely work, Stephen.

Love the delicacy of this Stephen.

I like the fuzzy trees and bushes, Stephen. Good to experiment with tools!

And another successful budget sketch Stephen!

Many thanks Fiona, us Northerners appreciate a bargain!

Stephen I really like that green under the tree, may I ask what combination it is?

Erm I’m not sure, might be burnt sienna and Pthalo blue?

Lol....thanks Stephen!

Many thanks Maureen.
