I think I like pen and watercolour more that watercolour alone.

Thanks John, they are certainly fun to do and it stops you overworking.

I agree the looser feel , and the pen work, works so well. Really like this.

Lovely quick and loose painting, Stephen, i like this style. -

Many thanks Andre and Cesare.

Super.....what colours did you use for the water here Stephe, please?

Thanks Fiona, I think the blue of the water is Ultramarine, the bridge reflection is Raw Sienna and the trees reflections are mixtures of those and Burnt Sienna, added while the Uktramarine was still wet. Just noticed a face in the water, the eyes are the bridge arches and the nose the central column, with the mouth the little light below, all accidental.

Really like this Stephen

This really is full of spontaneity Stephen. Very, very nice work.

Another nice pen and wash Stephen

It is 'In the water' not on. The same cottage but looking from a little down the river Wye. Funny but the quicker I do these, the more I like them.

About the Artist
Stephen Slater

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
