Nice still, misty November feel to this, Stephen, and lovely water. How do you find using the blocks?

Thanks Caroline, I enjoy using the Inktense, I intend taking them out sketching if the weather ever improves!

Good result - you'll get the reputation as the Canal King

I like this as well Stephen, lovely scene of the canal barge and the dog walker on the path, lovely relaxing scene, it is interesting to see you used pen and inktense blocks, I am using inktense coloured pencils in my work alongside pastel pencils and chalks, the blocks seem to have worked really well for you here, nice bright colours as inktense in all it's forms gives a depth of colour that we can't always get with other mediums, this is a lovely work

Many thanks Michael and Ros for your kind remarks. I think I need to get some new subjects but the canals around here are little gems in mostly urban sprawl.

You have really got the linear perspective spot on. I know that canal barges like strong hues but I wonder what knocking back the green and red would look like. Strengthening the foreground shadows may also be worth a go. I tend to use soft pastel when I am experimenting with a finished painting because you can make the alterations in stages whereas with watercolour you have to get it right first time. Never used inktense so maybe my remarks are out of line.If so sorry and ignore them

Thanks for your thoughtful comments Alan, I think stronger tones in the foreground would help and Inktense can be used in that way.

Another A5 skech, using a pen and Inktense blocks. Just along the Huddersfield canal from the previous one.
