Lovely colours Stephen.

your paintings are lovely :-) wish i had your artistic talent.

I agree, lovely colours and I think we may have snow soon too.

Many thanks, Michael, Rebecca and Glennis for your kind remarks, It is all to practice Rebecca.

I really like to see the use of ink with watercolour and this one is super Stephen, I like the composition of the high bank behind the figures.

I've just done a pen and wash with a sharpened matchstick but mine turned out to be a bit of a disaster I'm afraid. However, you have pulled this one off with aplomb - so well done.

Thanks again Fiona and Thea for your encouragement. I find that if I paint an imaginary scene I don't get bogged down with detail.

Thea, have you come across John Hoar's work? He is a wonderful watercolour and line and wash artist, like Edward Wesson. He has a dvd -'line wash and watercolour' by Town house films. Which shows his method and I have found very instructive.

Another lovely work Stephen, lovely relaxed casual atmosphere to this, just enough detail, lovely colours and trees and love the stance of the walker and dog who typically is not even facing in the right direction, its a dog doing what we all love to do just enjoying the freedom of lovely open spaces

I thought I would try an imaginary snow scene in watercolour over an ink drawing done with a sharpened matchstick.

Stephen Slater

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
