Many thanks Fiona, it's actually an acrylic but painted in a watercolour style. The advantage is that when a wash is dry you can add highlights to it without fear of lifting the bottom layer off, creating the dreaded mud!

Painted this at the art group tonight. The Medlock is one of the tributaries of the Irwell, running into Manchester.
