You have that look of quiet sereneness that we find on canal towpaths and gorgeous colours in this as well with the slightly orangey autumnal feel to it, lovely bridge

nice one Stephen - I will soon be trying out acrylics but I rather fancy doing abstracts - not sure I could ever your reach your standard with them.

Many thanks Ros and Michael for your kind remarks. Michael, I think you will be presently surprised with how easily you will transfer your watercolour skills / experience over to acrylics. They do appear to be very user friendly, hope it's not just beginners luck!

Super painting, Stephen. I love those warm autumnal colours..

Many thanks Heather for your kind remarks.

I came across some Acrylic paints recently, I bought maybe twenty years ago and hardly used. I thought I would give them another try. I covered the whole board with a base coat of burnt sienna, as I would with an oil. I then found it really difficult to paint the sky, as the base coat kept showing through. In future I think i will leave the board white and work from there. Appart from that, I quite enjoyed working with the acrylics as they dry so much quicker than oils (and I'm a bit impatient!) I painted this scene from a photo I took on a lovely walk along the tow path. It was very quiet and serene, hard to believe a main road passes very close by.

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
