Rivers of Blood
This is my first attempt at painting in proper turpsy oil paint. the subject, Monument Valley is symbolic of the the historic struggle of the Wild West. Much blood and culture was lost in this struggle. The land is now part of the Navajo Tribal reserve and hopefully the Native American people will protect it. The "butte" on the left is known as one of the "Mittens" and the mid distance one is the "Tepee". I called it revers of blood, not only because of the history, but the linear shadows in the foreground look like revers of blood.
