Beautiful :)

You have a beautiful collection of watercolours Sophie, I love this one for exactly the reasons you have described in your write up.

Thank you so much Fiona! 😊

Super work looks expertly done look forward to seeing more of your work

Another fantastic painting (I've just been looking at your most recent). Love the sharpness of those leaves, and the way you make them overlap just using excellent drawing, intelligent composition, and a superb selection of colours. Not only that, but you make the viewer want to get their own watercolours out and have a go at even beginning to achieve similar results - you have a lovely, calligraphic touch: and as with your other painting (ONE of your other paintings, the one on which I've also commented) there's a completely convincing realization of depth. I do hope you'll be staying with us for a long time and posting more and more of your paintings.

Thank you Robert and Dennis, really appreciate your comments

I love the Acer tree for it's richness of colour, the shape of the leaves and the structure of the tree, a real joy to paint and a constant source of inspiration for me. I enjoy trying to interpret the different shapes and layers of the canopy by painting the different depths in colour of the shadows as the leaves overlap and intertwine. The Acer tree thrives in Cornwall and gives many gardens an Eastern flavour. I painted this particular tree from the stunning Cornish Gardens and woodlands at Trengwainton in Penzance.
