Acer
I love the Acer tree for it's richness of colour, the shape of the leaves and the structure of the tree, a real joy to paint and a constant source of inspiration for me. I enjoy trying to interpret the different shapes and layers of the canopy by painting the different depths in colour of the shadows as the leaves overlap and intertwine. The Acer tree thrives in Cornwall and gives many gardens an Eastern flavour. I painted this particular tree from the stunning Cornish Gardens and woodlands at Trengwainton in Penzance.
